The Spirit Of The Games

Funded by

Project Aims:

To engage children in the Cultural Olympiad through creative arts activities.

To enable children to build new friendships with other children from a different geographical location through exploring their common identities & celebrating their differences.

To develop children’s understanding of the Games’ Values through the sharing & celebration of work created.

To celebrate and create a sense of community cohesion between two different communities in the county.

“Taking part in a performance with a mainstream school was brilliant. Our children usually only ever perform with our own school pupils.  They were able to show a creative ability similar to their mainstream peers in a non-threatening environment where they felt comfortable.  It was good for the children to experience a school very different to their own.”

“Children worked and played really well together and celebrated the chance to work with children from another school. They were very understanding of the differences between them and most commented afterwards that they had enjoyed working with different children.  It was lovely to see all the pupils participating, especially those that might sometimes be daunted.”
